We've got Furniture!

I've been waint a long time for this moment. We've got furniture in our living room, the couch being something i've been eyeing from IKEA since a project i did in grade 12.  Last Saturday we went to IKEA with one of Gavin's coworkers who let us use her truck as a wedding gift. It was a fabulous gift. Thank you Laura!

For the living room we got the lovely white* couch you see, the TV stand and the two lamps. 

*don't worry, i'm not crazy. Yes it's a white couch, but the cool thing is the slip cover comes off and i can throw it in the wash. Ta dum! ooh! and i can change the slip over to anyone i want at IKEA. Maybe i'll try red one of these days.

This is my dinning room. The chandelier is from, you guessed it, IKEA along with the table, chairs and i must say the adorable red polka dot chair pads. My favorite part is the framed posters from Nice, France where my dad spent a good chunk of his mission. Dad, if you're reading this, those may look vaguely familiar...please forgive me, if you want them you'll have to come visit me.

Camping...in our living room

Gavin's the new scout master so we needed to get some camping things for him. We got a tent, a sleeping mat and a couple sleeping bags. This got us really excited about camping, well me anyways, but since he had just got back from his first real life scout campout we opted to camp indoors.

We built our tent, feel free to ooh and ahh, it's pretty impressive and we roasted marshmellows on our candle light campfire and made s'mores. It was pretty awesome.

We had fun. You should try it sometime : )

Living Room Fireplace-Before and After

I found this picture in Better Homes and Gardens and I really liked it. I've always loved the combination of white and green and have decided to use this picture as inspiration for my living room.

So this is what the fireplace looked like before I attacked it. It's not terrible, but it definatly was not my favorite. I've never been a fan of glass covered fireplace, but much prefer the old fashioned open fireplaces.

Ta-Dum! This is it after. I took off the glass doors and painted the grates that were once black white to blend in with the rest of the fireplace.  The topiaries and wreath were all decorations used at our reception and they work great with the green and white color scheme.  The candles add a nice touch and they could come in handy for various other purposes like...serving as a campfire if  we ever built a fort in the living room and wanted to roast marshmallows.  We are much too grown up to do that though; we'd never think of it. 

Can I just say I love my fireplace? Thanks, I love my fireplace
