week 25

Dear Baby,
You are already training to be a basketball player; you're CONSTANTLY bouncing around inside of Mommy and she loves it. This week Daddy and Mommy were excited to put together a brand new stroller and install a brand new car seat for you.  It took a little while, but after Mommy convinced Daddy to read the instructions, they got it figured out.  Mommy is very excited to take you on walks in it with Max.
This week was Easter.  Mommy ate a little too much sugar but you didn't mind; you were having a party in her tummy.
Yesterday, Mommy and Daddy went to see Doctor Nugyn.  We got to listen to your heart beating a million miles a minute. When the nurse first put the monitor on Mommy's tummy it sounded like we were underwater and she couldn't find your heart beat because you were moving around too much.  When she found it though, it sounded exactly like we were listening to a horse race with lots of hooves racing around like Seabiscuit.  You are definately Mommy's little jumping bean.
 Love,
Mommy

He is Risen

He is risen! He is risen!

Tell it out with joyful voice

He has burst his three days prison

Let the whole wide earth rejoice

Death is conquered, man is free

Christ has won the victory

Come with high and holy hymning

Chant our Lord's triumphant lay

Not one darksome cloud is dimming

Yonder glorious morning ray

Breaking o'er the purple east

Symbol of our Easter feast

He is risen! He is risen!

He hath opened heaven's gate

We are free from sin's dark prison

Risen to a holier state

And a brighter Easter beam

On our longing eyes shall stream

-Cecil Frances Alexander

He is risen and He lives.  How happy I am to know this. Happy Easter

Nursing Cover

Yesterday I called up my sister Annie, who's due in October to chat.  Turns out we both had the brilliant idea of making nursing covers on the exact same day. Here's how mine turned out and I'm super excited to see how her turned out.  I followed a tutorial found here http://tadacreations.blogspot.com/2009/06/nursing-cover-up-tutorial.html. The fabric I used is by my all time favorite fabric designer, Amy Butler.

I also found a onesie on someone's blog that I can't remember now, but I thought it was so cute for a little boy and this is how mine turned out.  Funny story... When my Grandma Jeanne saw Gavin for the first time, she noticed he was wearing arguyle socks.  She leaned over and told my Mom that she automatically liked him and that he was going to be a good husband for me (this was before I had even really met him in person for the first time).  She was right. You can tell alot about a guy from his socks.
I have NO decorations for the babie's room and I thought I should get going since I only have about 3 more months until he arrives.  I picked this rug up at Walmart for 3 dollas. I love red and I love polka dots.
Is it just me or am I HUGE? If all of a sudden you wake up tomorrow and the sun is nowhere in sight, don't worry, just stay calm. I must have just walked in front of it.

Easy to please

You may be wondering how this face could be so happy. Easy...
Give him some new blue basketball shoes,
 a Lakers hat,
and a very large bowl of ice cream.
I love this guy.

Just for fun...

Gavin is the Scoutmaster in our ward and I finally got around to sewing on all of his badges on Monday.  His old scout shirt was in the garbage pile but before it got thrown away, I couldn't resist having a little fun with Max.
Little scout-dog Max with his Scoutmaster daddy.

Our little boy is growing up. sniff sniff.
oh Max.

Week 24

Dear Baby,

Yep, these are your parents.
Mommy...
 and Daddy.
They're kind of strange, but if you can overlook that, I think you'll love them as much as they love you.
This week you've really gotten big and strong.  Mommy can tell because she can feel you kicking ALL the time now.  Last night Mommy and Daddy were laying on the bed watching you put on a show while you kicked and punched. They just needed some popcorn. Daddy doesn't have to put his hand on Mommy's tummy to feel you move; he just has to watch her tummy and see you move.
Mommy worked on some projects for you this week.  She thought this bassinett was a little plain and not quite perfect for her little baby.
There. That's much better.
Mommy was craving Greek Salad, (one of her favorites) all week so today she made it.  You and her love it.  You've got good taste, just like her.
Tonight Mommy played Bunco with her Bunco group and she won! You must be her good luck charm.

Love,
Mommy

Week 23

Dear Baby,
This week we got to go on travel with Daddy. We stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Anaheim, right next to Disneyland! We got to see the firework show and I think you liked it, at least I liked it. While Daddy was at his conference we went shopping together, looking for stuff for you.  We found some Nike onsies so you can sport Nike like Dad. We also got to eat our favorite food, Cafe Rio, for dinner and breakfast.  You ate almost a whole footlong from Subway too; Mommy never could have done that herself. You like to eat.
Love,
Mommy

Week 22

Dear Baby,
we've made it 22 weeks together. You've grown so much and somedays you do so much of it that Mommy can actually feel her belly stretching.  We like to eat alot of ice cream lately.  Our favorite is a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate from McDonalds.  Daddy can feel you moving around when he puts his hands on Mommy's tummy.  You like to move around the most first thing in the morning and whenever we're hungry.  Last night you liked laying on Mommy's bladder.  She had to get up 4 times to use the bathroom. Sometimes she thinks you do it because you think it's funny. At our last doctor's appointment we got to hear your little heart beating.  The doctor said it's a good strong heart; Daddy thinks you're already a good basketball player.
Love,
Mommy

What i've been up to lately...

Here's a few pictures of what I've been doing in my spare time. Ok so there's a lot of pictures, I kind of got carried away.
The current state of my living room
I LOVE decorating my mantel and for spring I put my collection of bottles on it. No, I do not drink wine.
After about 5 months, I FINALLY finished painting the kitchen cabinets, a project I will never do again. I think they should make inmates in prison paint kitchen cabinets, it's that bad.
I don't have a before picture, but this used to be ugly brown stain with door on top too.  My lovely sister Sarah painted it and I turned it into a book shelf.
I wanted some decor for Valentines day and I was inspired by Gavin. Haha, i'm so cheesy. This is what I came up with.

A camera strap for my fancy new Cannon Rebel. My Hubby loves me.

The free file cabinet we got.
The free file cabinet painted up.

This beast of a creature I bought at the thrift store for $ 5.

It also just needed some TLC
Look Ma, I didn't kill them...yet. I've got some rosemary, basil, parsley, chives and bell peppers. I've never seen a bell pepper in it's natural habitat. As far as I knew, they grew in the produce section at the grocery store.
We got this for free from a lady Gavin works with.
It really is amazing what a coat of paint and new hardware can do.
I grew those poppies!
This is our bedroom, I think the bed gives it away. I bought this FABULOUS bedspread at TJ Max and every morning I wake up and I may or may not hug it.
I just LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
My new headband I made yesterday.
I made these shoes a couple days ago. They were suprisingly easy once I figured it out.
Just kidding. I have decided that I absolutely refuse to be a frumpy pregnant lady. I will continue to wear skinny jeans, headbands, form fitting shirts and high heels. These were so cute, and comfy that I couldn't pass them up. Besides, they were on sale and they're red.

Marley and Me

So last night for date night Gavin and I went out to dinner and then came home with the movie Marley and Me from red box.  It was a really adorable movie. We both really liked it, mostly because it is the story of our lives with our dog Max.  So many of the things that Marley did in the movie, Max has done, does or was doing while we watched the movie.  However, I'm not writing this post to give a movie review.  I'm writing this post as a WARNING.
DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE IF YOU ARE PREGNANT!
I was doing really great and really enjoying the movie until the part where Owen Wilson is about to bring the dog to the vet for the second time and the little boy knows that that will be the last time he sees Marley.  At this part I was trickling a few tears so I got up to "go bathroom" so Gav wouldn't see me being a baby.  So much for that because I came back, layed on the couch and lost it. I mean lost it.  For real.  I wasn't crying, I was bawling histerically like my mom died, saying over and over "this is so sad!" Totally caught Gavin off guard because here we were laying on the couch, quiet and no tears that he was aware of and then all of a sudden buckets of tears and mascara raining uncontrollably.  I don't blame him for chuckling a little.  Needless to say, I did not see the rest of the ending ( I'll save that for when I'm not pregnant) because it took Gavin some time and ice cream to calm me down and get me back to "normal".
To sum it all up, Marley and Me is an excellent movie, especially if you have a dog of your own, but DO NOT under any circumstance watch it if you are pregnant. Trust me, I learned that one the hard way.
