My first race ever

For about a year now, I've been wanting to run a race. I signed up to do a 10K on on St. Patrick's day while I was up in Utah.  It started at the Capitol and ended in Memory Grove Park.  My goal was to finish in an hour and 10 minutes because that's the fastest I've done 6 miles when I run at the Gym.  I told my mom to meet me at the finish line at an hour and 10 minute mark.  It turns out she missed me cross the finish line because I did it in 1 hour, 6 minutes and 30 seconds! I was so surprised I did it that fast because I honestly thought while I was running that my time would be like an hour and a half  because the first 3 miles were all up a canyon and the higher altitude in Utah was killing me.  Apparently I ran faster than I thought.
I'm just happy I did it.  It's so nice to set a goal and then accomplish it. Now I can say I ran a 10 K and I have a bright green neon shirt to prove it.
